Skyline Diamond was founded in 1947 by Russell Cleveland. Russ began working in the jewelry industry shortly after WWII, in which he proudly served his country as a Marine in the South Pacific.
Skyline began as a trade shop, making custom pieces for retail jewelry stores to sell in their own establishments. Over the years, our own private clientele of satisfied customers grew so large that we eventually opened our own showroom and transitioned to exclusively offer our jewelry to the public, directly from our shop. Our customer base now spans throughout Michigan and around the country.
We are known for high quality workmanship, custom design, and our commitment to stand behind all our products and services. We pride ourselves on offering our customers the highest levels of personal service as well as a world class selection of jewelry.
Many of the craftsmen at Skyline have been with us for twenty years or more. Russell Cleveland retired in 1981, and left Skyline in the capable hands of his two sons, Ron and Randy who spent years learning the art of fine jewelry craftsmanship from their father. Ron's son Nathan joined the team in 1990 and has been learning the tools of the trade, making him the third generation of the Cleveland family to uphold the Skyline Diamond quality of standard.
We would like to thank all of our many loyal customers for helping us to become the premier jewelers of Michigan.
Because we strive to offer only the highest quality gems, most of our fine stones are individually certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The GIA Gem Trade Laboratories is the world’s largest nonprofit educational organization for the jewelry industry. Skyline declines to sell diamonds certified by any of the other grading laboratories as their subjectivity may allow a more lenient grading scale than that of the GIA, thereby giving a false impression of quality and value. Skyline is proud to have three GIA graduate Gemologists on staff to help answer your questions about our vast selection of GIA diamonds. Skylines’ state of the art gemological laboratory allows the buyer the opportunity to study the aspects of a diamonds qualities and how these qualities relate to its beauty and value. A clear understanding will add to one’s enjoyment and confidence in the purchase of a fine diamond. Diamonds are graded using the four C’s: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight.
